A close win for Tiddington!
A lovely evening at Horspath cricket club saw the sun shining and the wind drop for a true spring feeling evening.
Tiddington won the toss and after much deliberation (and help from his team) our Captain decide to bat first.
Tiddington had a steady start finishing 9 from their first pair without loss before James (28) and Monty (6) set up a great innings all be it with a bit of luck in the field! All was going well until a couple of run outs late on but Tiddington finished with a competitive score of 252.
Horspath come out knowing that a steady innings without losses would take them close, everything looked to be going well until an excellent catch by Tom coming from behind the wicket made sure they had a game on their hands!
Going into the last pair Horspath were only 3 runs behind Tidd on 249 with 3 overs to go, in the next over Horspath gained two runs before success for Tiddington as the captain took the bails on his first ball of the penultimate over leaving the hosts needing 6 to win.
The last over was a nail bitter (well for the parents anyway!) after a couple of tight deliveries the pressure was on leading to a couple of wides and singles, off the last ball Horspath went for it and were run out leaving Tiddington the winners.
Well done Tidd we rode our luck at times with dropped catches and miss fields but came strong at the end, with action like this and such a close finish at the end who need Skys Sports when you have under 9’s cricket?
